NAAMA FREEDMAN

Inspired by the experience of sitting in the cafés and bars of Brussels hearing people going in and out of two, sometimes three different languages throughout a single conversation, the artist takes the testimony of Le témoin X1 as basis for her technique of editing and manipulating text. By deconstructing and reconstructing passages from the original testimony, she creates a narrative that is then recited in French, Dutch, English, and Hebrew. While standing in the middle of the empty pool will result in a cacophony of sound, one must choose a corner to get closer to in order to make sense of what is being said.
